2010: Maps and Legends

Music@Menlo’s eighth season embarked upon a multidimensional journey through the vast landscape of human experience. Over the course of seven concert programs, the festival’s signature Encounter series, and a host of other events, the 2010 festival presented music that speaks to a wide compass of times, places, and universal phenomena—music that proudly affirms a nation’s identity, marvels at the changing of the seasons, and responds to the trauma of war. Illuminating through their music the unique vision of composers from Vivaldi, Beethoven, and Dvorák to Schoenberg, Copland, and Crumb, Maps and Legends revealed music as a lens through which we discover the world we inhabit.
