Following their rousing festival debut on Tuesday evening, the Pacifica Quartet starred in Wednesday’s Cafė Conversation, sharing their insights, artistic views, and professional experiences with the Chamber Music Institute’s young artists. Though the day’s public offerings ended there, coachings and rehearsals intensified for the season’s upcoming events, including Friday evening’s performance of Mendelssohn’s immortal Opus 20 Octet.
The festival’s series of free noontime activities continues on Thursday, as the always engaging composer, pianist, and lecturer Bruce Adolphe returns to Music@Menlo to lead the summer’s second master class: two Institute ensembles will workshop piano trios by Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms in preparation for this weekend’s Koret Young Performers Concerts. Bruce takes the stage again in the evening for the season’s second Encounter, “Intuition, Intellect, and Insects: Felix and the Fireflies” (7:30 p.m., Martin Family Hall).
