On Friday, Music@Menlo offers a special remembrance of Michael Steinberg: the midday Cafė Conversation, a Poetry Reading Workshop that was to be lead by Michael, will proceed in celebration of his life, legacy, and immeasurable contributions to the festival (12:00 p.m., Martin Family Hall). Following a quiet Thursday night, the season’s survey of the complete Mendelssohn string quartet cycle resumes, as the Pacifica Quartet performs the thrilling Opus 44 Quartets (8:00 p.m., St. Mark’s Episcopal Church).
This weekend features the summer’s final two Carte Blanche Concerts: on Saturday evening, violinist Joseph Swensen and pianist Jeffrey Kahane offer the complete Brahms Sonatas for Violin and Piano (8:00 p.m., St. Mark’s Episcopal Church); and legendary pianist Menahem Pressler makes his eagerly anticipated Music@Menlo debut on Sunday evening with works by Mendelssohn, Beethoven, and Schubert (7:00 p.m., St. Mark’s Episcopal Church). Both programs are preceded by a Koret Young Performers Concert (Sat: 6:00 p.m.; Sun: 4:00 p.m.).
