Tickets: $65/$45 adult; $32/$15 student
Please note: We regret to announce that Jeffrey Kahane has had to cancel his scheduled appearance at Music@Menlo this summer due to illness. We are, of course, disappointed to miss out on Jeffrey Kahane’s presence at the festival this summer; however, we are tremendously excited to announce that we have engaged the Finnish piano sensation Juho Pohjonen to take Jeffrey’s place for Carte Blanche Concert II (Thursday, July 29, 8:00 p.m., St. Mark’s Episcopal Church). One of the most exciting and dynamic young pianists in the world today, Pohjonen will give the following program for the July 29 Carte Blanche Concert:
MOZART: Sonata in A Major, K. 331
GRIEG: Ballade in the Form of Variations on a Norwegian Melody, op. 24
HANDEL: Keyboard Suite vol. 2 no. 1 in B-flat Major, HWV 434
BRAHMS: Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel in B-flat Major, op. 24
This ravishing program not only showcases Juho’s impressive virtuosity—it also reflects an intellectual acumen perfectly suited for Music@Menlo. Each work highlights the theme-and-variations form, demonstrating how composers of four different eras approach the same compositional technique.
If you have previously purchased tickets for Jeffrey Kahane’s concert, they are valid for Juho’s recital. We truly believe that you will be enthralled by Juho Pohjonen’s artistry. However, if you would prefer, Music@Menlo will gladly exchange your tickets for another performance during the festival or refund the price of admission.
