Menahem Pressler has had to cancel his scheduled appearance at Music@Menlo this summer due to a family emergency. We are, of course, disappointed that Menahem Pressler is unable to join us at the festival this summer; however, we are pleased to announce that renowned pianist and Music@Menlo favorite Jeffrey Kahane will take Mr. Pressler’s place for Carte Blanche Concert IV.
Jeffrey Kahane’s program will offer a multidimensional look at the romantic piano literature, from the virtuosic solo works of Fryderyk Chopin to Gabriel Fauré’s lyrical and colorful Piano Quartet no. 1 in c minor, which will be performed with violinist Philip Setzer, violist Paul Neubauer, and cellist David Finckel. Kahane will also be joined by Music@Menlo Coartistic Director Wu Han in performing a piano, four-hand realization of the rarely heard Organ Chorale Preludes by Johannes Brahms—works that were inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach.
