Artist Bio

Nan Ni, piano

Born in Anhui, China, Nan Ni began her piano studies at the age of five. Described as ”a confident, accurate, powerful articulate interpreter“ (Boston Musical Intelligencer), she was the first prize winner of 2022 Fou Ts’ong International Concerto Competition. Her other awards include First Prize at the Los Angeles Young Musician International Piano Competition, Third Prize at the Conero International Piano Competition, and Second Prize at the Shenzhen Piano Open Competition. Ni is a three-time Piano Department Honors Competition winner at the New England Conservatory (NEC). A recipient of the Tan Family Grant Scholarship at NEC, she was also awarded a Shanghai Government Scholarship and Niu Ende Piano Music Scholarship and won the Audience Award at the winners’ concert.

Nan has participated in many prestigious music festivals, including the Summer Academy Mozarteum in Salzburg and the Music Academy of the West. She attended Music Middle School affiliated with the Shanghai Conservatory for nine years, studying under Natalia Filippova. She graduated from New England Conservatory with a bachelor’s degree in 2021 and a master’s degree in 2023. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree at NEC with Bruce Brubaker and Alessio Bax. Nan is also an organist at NEC, where she studied under Thomas Handel. She has performed solo organ at the Church of the Covenant in Boston and with the NEC concert choir and chamber singers.
